Pinned... Crayon Drip Pumpkin

Everyone and their sister is talking about what ideas they saw on pinterest. I will admit, I am a huge fan of pinterest. I could get lost for hours in a web of pinterest, post, and blogs linked to other blogs and so on. I love to do quick easy crafts, and really enjoy baking and cooking. I am not a huge DIY fan, because I don't have another inch of space in our house to put things. My issue with pinterest is I pin about 100 things a week, and then never really know if they work. So to fix this, I have challenged myself to craft, bake, or make at least one thing I have pinned each week. Although I will continue to pin more then I could ever imagine actually making, its a start.
This week I made an attempt at "Crayon Drip Art Pumpkin Tutorial" by The Swell Life. This I idea is originally hers, although I changed a few things to fit what I had and my vision for what I wanted. Also I need to warn you my pictures are taken with my phone (not the greatest quality) but you get the point.

You need:
Newspaper
Crayons
Pumpkin (size is your choice)-I got this one at Hobby Lobby for $4
A  small candle
Hairdryer
I know not everything is pictured here, but it was late.
1. Decide what color crayons you want and cut in half (optional depending on size of your pumpkin), and take paper off.
2.Find some way to attach the crayons to your pumpkin temporary. "The Swell Life" used tacky glue, I didn't have any and tried Elmer's.
When that didn't work I brought out the candle: I slightly melted the crayons just enough they would stick to the pumpkin. I forgot to take a picture before I turned on my hairdryer, but this is what it looked like after a few seconds with the hairdryer:
The dark brown for the stem, kinda messed up the other colors. If I were to do it over I would have melted him first.
*Beware when the crayons start to melt (literally after a few seconds) they may start to fly off and splatter. Make sure you have your floor covered, and wearing old cloths.

Here is the end result:

Kinda looks like a kindergartner did it,  but I enjoyed doing it
*Things I would change:
Do the stem first, and possibly melting each color separate.
Use the entire crayon, their is too much white for my liking.

The best thing about this is you can let your imagination take over. Use any colors you like, heck even use a different shape. I think a ceramic bowl would be fun also! Enjoy!

Stay tuned for more "Pinned"... I think I will bake something this weekend.....

Jack Henry

I was just looking back though my post and realized I forgot to announce Jack Henry Bruton born August 5, 2012 and perfectly perfect! My cousin had her baby! Becca and I have always been really close, given the fact we are cousins twice (I will explain another day). She has always been more of a sister to me then a cousin, therefore I kinda think of her as an Aunt to Hunter! and me and Aunt to Jack. Here he is!!

Just Born!

Jack is now a little over a month old, and growing so fast! He is such a cutie, and so alert! I can't wait to watch Hunter and Jack grow up together.

Ear Infections... Go Away!

So last week was a really hard week for us. I would say it was harder then the first few weeks after Hunter was born. We started out the week with a double ear infection. He was in so much pain, he couldn't sleep or eat. The doctor put him on Leviquin for 5 days, and it didn't do a thing. Only gave the ear infection more fuel to get worse and cause more pain and sleepless nights. Finally on Wednesday I took him back in, and they put him on a 3 day injection of Rocephin. I say this every time he get shots, but man SHOTS ARE THE WORST part of being a mom. The way you have to hold them down, and see the shear terror in their eyes, makes me want to scream out for him! And doing it for 3 days was absolutely awful! By the 3rd day he knew what was coming, and started screaming before I even laid him on the table.
Fortunately, the shots did start to work over the weekend. He is still not 100% back to him self, but I would say in the next day or 2 he will improve more. This morning we met with ENT, because this was his 3rd infection in 3 months, and they had used all the antibiotics available for him. She highly recommended we get tubes put in ASAP. I am not going to lie, I am pretty nervous about this. But also relieved and looking forward to them, because who really wants to see their child in pain. And since their is something I can do about it, well lets get it done!  He will have this done next Tuesday, please pray for all of us involved. I am sure I will be a crazy wreak the day of. We will be praying for guidance for the doctors and nurses, and patients and trust in God for Taylor and I. I know it a simple 15 min procedure, and we will be in and out in a very short time. Honestly my biggest fear is him not being able to eat after midnight. That is 7-12 hours of not eating for this little man... He will be very unhappy about that! I will keep you posted on how everything goes.

On a more happy note, my cousin Amber got married over the weekend to a wonderful man, Chris. The weather was absolutly perfect for a beautiful outside wedding. I didn't get a picture of the bride and groom (left my camera in the car), but my mom got a few with her phone of Hunter of course:)

The 3 of us... We tried about 5 times to take this pictures, and this is the best one!
